About the company:

CBC-Spectrum is a private consultancy firm in the service sector that promotes self-employment, business growth, and social development for individuals, organizations, and society at large. The firm was legally established on January 2, 2019, by its owner and manager, Selamawit Kahsu.

Selamawit holds a BA in Management and an MBA from Mekelle University (MU). She served the University for more than 20 years as an academic staff member and five years as Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC). She also worked with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI)–Ethiopia for 13 years as a Senior Business Development Service (BDS) Advisor and later as a Regional and Zonal BDS Coordinator. In addition, she is a certified Empretec ToT trainer.

Highlight of Experience: CBC Spectrum and the Owner Manager

• Served as a jury member in innovative business competitions organized by DOT–Ethiopia, Mekelle University (twice), Axum Hawelti TVET College, and Adwa Nigistesaba TVET College.
• Provided virtual BDS to clients in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Hawassa, and Bahir Dar.
• Developed an Entrepreneurship Training Manual for Mekelle University prospective graduates.
• Represented Ethiopia as one of six delegates at the Enactus 2019 World Cup in California, USA, an international business competition involving 37 countries.
• At MU, designed a business idea competition system that produced three top winners, who later competed nationally in October 2012 EC at the Skylight Hotel. MU representatives secured 1st and 2nd place, a testament to her leadership.
• Invited PUM Senior Experts from the Netherlands to support the establishment of a University Incubation Center (interrupted by the Tigray conflict).
• Co-organized, with Thomas More University professors, an Entrepreneurship Night featuring Design Thinking.
• Through CBC-Spectrum, provided BDS to MSMEs under the MS4G project, subcontracted by Palladium International and funded by USAID.
• Currently contributing to the development of a BDS Guide for EDI providers.
• Delivered Customer Handling Training for the Tigray Road Transport Authority.
• Conducted Psycho-Social Support (PSS) Training for programs organized by EDI and Shine Women Empowerment Organization.
• Provided Time Management Training for female staff at MU.
• Delivered GBV Training for women in Adihaki Sub-City, Mekelle, with Shine Women Empowerment.
• Participated in multiple gender-focused workshops and training, including in the Netherlands.
• Provided Life Skills Training for female students at MU.
